2016 Japan (October)

We flew back to Tokyo with Japan Airlines and spent 3 nights in Okayama and 4 in Tokyo. From Okayama, we visited 3 more islands which were part of the Setouchi Triennale 2016 art festival. In Tokyo we did some shopping then did 2 tourist train trips during the weekend. The first was on the SL Banetsu Monogatari, a restored steam train which travels from Niigata on the Sea of Japan to Aizu-Wakamatsu up in the hills in the centre of Honshu. The second train on Sunday was the Genbi Shinkansen - "the fastest art gallery in the world". It is a shinkansen (bullet train) converted to be a showcase of artworks which runs 2 return trips on weekends and holidays.
